Douglas Franklin Smith Jr., 49, of Casa Mesa, CA, died on June 7, 2009.

Born in South Kingstown, RI, he was the son of Douglas Franklin Smith Sr., of 9010 Daum Court, Springfield, VA and Diana T. Harvey of 21 Pat Circle, North Kingstown, RI.

He is survived by his sister Lucy Michelle Smith of 9010 Daum Court, Springfield, VA and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Douglas attended schools in North Kingstown, RI, before moving to California. He loved the oceans and its inhabitants on both coasts and spent many happy childhood hours riding the waves and piloting his boat around the bay.

His funeral and burial will be private. Calling hours respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to The Salvation Army, 6835 Post Road, North Kingstown, RI 02852 would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements by THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD.
