Stephan Grumbach -- Woonsocket

Woonsocket – Stephan Grumbach, 56, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA. He was the beloved husband of Karen (Lermond) Thomas.

Born in New York, NY, a son of the late Stephan and Aranka (Weiser) Grumbach, he had lived in Blackstone, MA before moving to Cumberland for 10 years. He has lived in Woonsocket for the past 4 years.

Mr. Grumbach was an industrial instructor in the Woodworking Shop at Souza Baranowski Correctional Center, Shirley, MA for the past 3 years. He also worked as a custom carpenter and had worked in architectural services. He was a substitute teacher at South Shore Vocational Technical High School, Hanover, MA. He was a member of Carpenters Local Union #475, Ashland, MA.

He was a 1972 graduate of William M. Davies Vocational Technical High School, and the Hall Institute for Drafting in 1980.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Heather Ryan and one son, Eric Grumbach, both of Millville, MA; one stepdaughter, Heather Sherby of Blackstone, MA; one stepson, Truth Thomas of North Carolina; three brothers, Albert Grumbach of West Greenwich, Frederich Grumbach of Lake City, PA and Peter Grumbach of Blackstone, MA; six grandchildren; and eleven nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Paul E. Grumbach.

His funeral will be held SATURDAY, JULY 18 at 10 A.M. at the BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Pawtucket.
