Arthur B. “Art” Worden, 88 of North Kingstown, died Friday at home. He was the husband of the late Violet (Wulff) Worden.
Born in Dwight, KS, he was the son of the late Guy and Ethel Worden, he moved to Ceresco, Michigan where he lived until joining the U.S. Marine Corps in 1940. After serving in several Barracks on the East Coast he was deployed to Camp Pendleton, California to join the with the Third Marine Corp Division for the battle for Iwo Jima. Art then joined Company “C” 1st Battalion, Ninth Marines at Guam.
Mr. Worden was a Letter Carrier for 18 years at the Apponaug Branch of the U. S. Post Office until retiring. He was an avid quahog shell fisherman. Mr. Worden was a past master of Nathaniel Green Lodge F. & A. M. of Warwick, now affiliated with Harmony Lodge #9 F. & A. M. of Cranston, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Providence, the Rhode Island Shriners of Cranston, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon and was instrumental in the building and refurbishing of the Masonic Lambskin Club Building in Warwick.
He is survived by two sons, Clifford E. Worden of Warwick, Wayne Worden of Cranston, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren
Funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 am at the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Calling hours are Monday 5-8pm, with a Masonic memorial Service by Harmony Lodge # 9 F. & A. M. at 7pm. Burial with full Military Honors at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
