Dorothy Fagan O’Hanley, 77, of Corey Lane, Middletown, RI died Monday August 3, 2009, at her home. She was the wife of her late husband, Ronald P. O’Hanley, to whom she was married for 49 years.

Born August 12, 1931 in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late James F. Fagan and Dorothy (Smith) Fagan and the sister of the late James F. Fagan, Jr.

Mrs. O’Hanley lived in Middletown for the past 19 years, previously living in Waterbury, CT.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she leaves two daughters, Margaret Puopolo and spouse Kevin of Wenham, MA and Patricia Hasselschwert and spouse Gary of Fairview Park, OH; three sons, Ronald P. O’Hanley of Boston, James F. O’Hanley and spouse Brenda of Middletown, RI, and Michael J. O’Hanley and his partner Donovan Hesser of Los Angeles; eleven grandchildren, Harry O’Hanley, Allison O’Hanley, Jennifer Puopolo Broyles, Katie Puopolo, Michele Puopolo, Tim Puopolo, Kristin Hasselschwert, Jim Hasselschwert, Caitlin O’Hanley, Eric O’Hanley, and Colby O’Hanley; and one great-grandchild, Mia
Broyles. For Dorothy O'Hanley her family was life's greatest blessing.

A registered nurse, Mrs. O’Hanley, was a graduate of Salve Regina University and the Massachusetts General Hospital nursing program. She began her career at the Newport Hospital and spent most of her career at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT, where she was a nursing instructor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 10am in St. Mary’s Church, Spring St., Newport. Burial at St. Columba Cemetery, Brown’s Ln, Middletown. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 5 from 4-7pm in the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring St., Newport, RI.
