Catherine D (Dickmann) Szolomajer -- North Kingstown
North Kingstown – Catherine D. Szolomajer, 94, of Harrison St., passed away peacefully on Saturday at the home of her granddaughter, Debra Rosche. She was the wife of the late Stephen J. Szolomajer.
Born in Passaic, NJ, a daughter of the late Valentine and Anna (Klein) Dickmann, she had lived in the Trenton, NJ area for sixty years before moving to Rhode Island where she lived in West Greenwich and Coventry before moving to North Kingstown in 2004.
She worked for thirty years in the Turnstead Division of General Motors, Trenton, NJ previously working for the Westinghouse Corporation. She was a member of the United Auto Workers Union, the Happy Seniors of West Greenwich, the Coventry Golden Agers and was a past president and former treasurer of the Coventry AARP.
She enjoyed gardening and always had a beautiful flower garden. She enjoyed classical and piano music and reading.
She is survived by her daughter Kathleen M. Suprenant and her husband Robert of Green Valley, AZ; her granddaughter Debra Rosche and her husband Greg and their two sons Gregory Scott and Robert Lee Rosche with whom she lived. She was the sister of the late Anna D. Hencken and Teresa Dickmann. She also leaves behind her many beloved family pets.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, August 12 at 10:00 AM in St. Francis de Sales Church, 381 School Street, North Kingstown. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. Donations in her memory may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI-South Team, 169 George St., Pawtucket, RI 02860.
