Virginia "Sue" S (Short) Cary -- North Kingstown
Cary, Virginia “Sue” (Short), 69, of Mt. View Ave., died Sunday at her home surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife to Raymond L. Cary to whom she was married for forty six years. She was born in Clendenin, WV, a daughter of the late Johnny and Ruby (Wilkenson) Short.
Mrs. Cary was employed by the University of Rhode Island as a senior word processing typist for over twenty one years until her retirement. She was a member of the Quidnessett Baptist Church, North Kingstown where she had been a Sunday School teacher for over forty years and was a member of the Library Administration at the University of Rhode Island for a number of years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son Mark D. Cary of Coventry, a daughter Robin Lynn Desjarlais of Warwick, three sisters Doris Hardy of Adamsville, TN, Carolyn Justice of Groton, CT, Peggy Shamblin of Clendenin, WV and four grandchildren, Francesca and Jacob Cary of Coventry, Andrea Schultz of Warwick and Aidan Desjarlais of Warwick. She was the sister of the late Jean Cobb.
A memorial service Saturday August 15, 2009 at 3pm in the Quidnessett Baptist Church, 6356 Post Rd., North Kingstown Calling hours Friday 5-8 pm in the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick. Private interment in the Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.
