North Kingstown – Edna B. (Laplante) Savage, 69, of Beacon Drive, passed away peacefully at Rhode Island Hospital on Thursday, August 13, 2009 surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Born in Providence she was a daughter of the late Hormidas L. and Alexina R. (Savoie) Laplante and had lived in Cranston and Coventry before moving to North Kingstown.

Edna was the owner and manager of the American Video Store in Wayland Square, Providence and had previously worked as an order edit supervisor for Coronet Thermogravers of Providence.

She was a past president of the Rhode Island Chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.

She is survived by her four daughters, Lillian D. Buckley of Cranston, Joan A. Ferrick of Seekonk, Suzanne R. Ortgiesen with whom she lived and Michelle L. Burnham of Coventry and seven grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Edgar Laplante of Pawcatuck, CT and Norman Laplante of Scituate.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, August 20 at 6:00 PM in Phenix Baptist Church, 2 Fairview Ave., West Warwick. A private prayer service followed by her burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston will be held for her family.
