Venava, Herbert A., 85, of Angell Ave., died September 20, 2009 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. A lifelong resident of North Providence, he was the son of the late Sullivan W. and Orsola (DeCesare) Venava.

Herbert worked for General Electric, formerly of Providence, until retiring. He was a life member of the Centredale Fire Department and a veteran of WWII. He was also an avid New York Yankee fan.

He leaves two sisters, Violet Iafrate and her husband Alfred of North Providence and Linda Ricci of Lincoln, nieces and nephews, Lisa Iafrate Ruscito and her husband Steven, Peter Iafrate, Sandra Beaudry and her husband Roger, Debra Valente, and Patrice Plante and her husband Charles.

Herbert’s funeral will be held Thursday at 9 AM from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Lawrence Church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours Wednesday 4-7 PM.
