Ethel M Peterson -- Cumberland

Cumberland ~ Ethel M. Peterson, 96, formerly of Cumberland and a summer resident of Kickemuit River, Bristol since the 1930’s, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009. Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Martin and Matilda (Johnson) Peterson, she resided in Cumberland since 1957. Miss Peterson was a graduate of the former Rhode Island College of Education. She was a fifth grade school teacher for 38 years, primarily at the former Cottage Street School, Pawtucket. She was a very active member of St. Matthew-Trinity Lutheran Church. She leaves seven nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was the sister of the late Helen H. Aspinwall Johnson, Ruth H. E. Peterson and Milton E. Peterson. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. VISITATION will be Friday 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to the Memorial Fund of St. Matthew-Trinity Lutheran Church, 690 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02861 will be appreciated.
