Edward F. “Skip” Doyle, Jr., 77, of Park St., Newport, RI, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Village House after a brief illness. Born in Rochester, NY, on May 10, 1932, he was the son of the late Lt Col Edward F. Doyle, USMC, Ret. and Mrs. Helen (Culhane) Doyle.

He is survived by his wife Barbara; his two sons and their wives, David and Jennifer and Culhane and Bethany; his two grandchildren, Aidan and Ronan; his brother Donald; his niece and god-daughter Colleen; and his grandnieces Katlyn and Allison Feder.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Wharton Business School, Skip was a Fulbright Scholar and United States Marine Officer before working for Chase Manhattan Bank for over 26 years. An avid reader, he enjoyed engaging in any debate and having his Thursday lunches at Yesterday’s with his dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009, at 10:30am in St. Joseph’s Church, Mann Ave & Broadway, Newport. Burial at St. Columba Cemetery, Brown’s Ln, Middletown. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 2, from 4-7pm in the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring St., Newport, RI.
