West Warwick – Joan M. Sylvester, 77 of East Greenwich Avenue died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Woonsocket Health Center's Hospice Unit. She was the beloved wife of Lawrence A. Sylvester.

Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late Augustus P. and Margaret M. (Fitzgerald) Simas. For twenty years she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and for many years was a volunteer at the RI Community Food Bank.

Besides her husband she is survived by her daughter Diane M. Remiesiewicz of West Greenwich and her husband Edmund, her son Anthony Meo of Richmond and his wife Linda, and her three grandchildren Neil and Julia Remiesiewicz and Anthony Meo.

Her funeral service and burial will be held privately for the immediate family only at her request.
