Walter E. Swanson, 91 of Warwick, died Wednesday October 7, 2009 at Pawtuxet Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Warwick. He was the husband of the late Beatrice ( Syverson ) Swanson.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Axel and Florence (Johnson) Swanson. Mr. Swanson served in the Army as a S/Sgt. in the Western Pacific during WWII. He was a Chief Line Assigner for the New England Telephone Co. for 40 years, and a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Mr. Swanson is survived by three sons, Philip A. Swanson of Warwick, Gary W. Swanson of Warwick, Jeffrey K. Swanson of Narragansett, five grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa, Joshua, Mikayla and Kyle and eight great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Pauline Ringman.
