Madeline R. (Fagan) Johansen, 87, of Warwick, died peacefully on October 18, 2009 at Kent Hospital. She was the loving wife of Walter R. Johansen. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late James L. Fagan, Sr. and Catherine (O'Leary) Fagan.

Mrs. Johansen was a secretary for the Leesona Corporation until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Judith Johansen Alarie and her husband, Robert W. Alarie of South Kingstown, and Barbara Elaine Johansen and her husband Thomas E. Purcell, M.D. of North Kingstown, and a brother, James L. Fagan, Jr. of Warwick. She leaves two grandchildren, Erica J. Farenholz and her husband Jacob W. Farenholz of North Kingstown and Jessica Johansen Micek, of North Kingstown, and two great-grandchildren, Jacob Walter and Avonelle Madeline Farenholz. She was the sister of the late Katherine Kubbe and Hope Duffy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 11:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 597 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick. Interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements by THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME.
