Pawtucket ~ Manuel P. Sousa, 78, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Maria Graca (Ferreira) Sousa for 55 years. Born in Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Jose and Maria dos Anjos (Pacheco) Sousa. Manny came to the United States in 1966 and settled in Pawtucket. He was a machine operator at American Insulated Wire Co., for 29 years until retiring. In Portugal Manny was a self employed truck driver for many years. He was a former member of the Lusitania Club, Cumberland. Besides his wife he leaves his children, Irene Reis and her husband John of Seekonk, Madeline Glaude and her husband David of Seekonk, Mary Anne Coleman and her husband Bill of Cumberland, Joe Sousa of Pawtucket and Emanuel Sousa and his wife Donna of Seekonk. He also leaves three sisters, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Antonio Sousa. His funeral will be held Saturday at 8 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Cecilia Church, 755 Central Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
