Martha (Mason) Gardiner -- North Kingstown

Martha (Mason) Gardiner, 96, of Austin Road, North Kingstown, died Wednesday at South Kingstown Nursing & Rehabilitation. She was the wife of the late Lowell S. Gardiner.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late William G. Mason and Martha A. (Blifford) Mason-Bamber.

An Educator and Title One Specialist, Mrs. Gardiner taught third and fourth grade at Davisville Elementary School and previously served as a Principal in the Warwick School System.

She was a member of Quidnessett Baptist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution Pettaquamscutt Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star Ada Chapter, West Bay Rainbow Alumni, Davisville Library, Quidnessett Grange, and East Greenwich Preservation Society. She enjoyed quilting and needlepoint.

She was the beloved mother of Donald M. Gardiner of North Kingstown and the sister of the late Irene Patterson. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 1:00 PM in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to Pettaquamscutt Chapter N.S.D.A.R. c/o Virginia S. Sanders, 190 Waldron Ave., North Kingstown, RI 02852 would be appreciated.
