WESTPORT, MA

Alexander O’Brien, 89, of Davis Rd., Westport, Ma, formerly of New Hampshire and Fall River, husband of Rita (Michaud) O’Brien and father of the late Patricia Smith, died Friday, October 30, 2009, following a long illness.

An Army veteran of WW II, he worked in Fall River’s textile industry and for Stop & Shop Supermarkets.

Besides his wife of 65 years, he leaves his son-in-law, Kenneth J. Smith, Sr. (wife Denise) of Westport; 3 grandchildren, Robin Morin (husband Dennis), Kim Bernier (fiancé David Berube) and Kenneth J. Smith, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Christopher and Aaron Notarangelo, Shawn and Jessica Bernier and Lindsie Morin. He was the son of the late Charles and Lena (Theriault) O’Brien and the brother of the late Loretta Schryba and Charles and Henry O’Brien.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport, at 10:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery.
