Condolence Messages
SKYLA
You left us just before
your thirteenth birthday.
Swine flu took you,
to a place
we could not go.
I argued with God
for your return--
told him you were too sweet,
too special, too wanted here. . .
but he would not listen,
wanted you for himself,
to help light the heavens.
Left us here instead, standing
around, looking dumbly at
each other, looking under tables
chairs and couches for a clue
that would prove
this was just a bad dream
gone delirious. . .
but it wasn’t,
and the joy you brought to us
in your short stay drifted upward
and away with your smiling face.

Your parents come into my shop for haircuts, a couple times they brought Skyla in. I remember how much she loved getting the lollypops! It was a pleasure to meet her, and I can't tell you how sorry I am your family has to suffer through another impossible tragedy. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

As a mother of two girls, 11 and 16 my heart goes out to you and your family at this difficult time. I am a substitute teacher at LMS and although I did not know Skyla personally I often saw her in the halls smiling as she made her way about. Just two weeks ago she sat next to me at a fundraising assembly. May you keep her love alive in your hearts.

I am sorry for your loss. I wish the state would RECONSIDER informing parents of what schools have confirmed cases and possibly close them without penalty on the kids. I wish you well.
