VOCCIO, JOSEPH B., 77, Treasurer and Owner of Torino Creations passed away Sunday November 15, 2009 at RI Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Shirley (Buchanan) Voccio and the late Ann Voccio. Born in Providence a son of the late Peter and Mary (Voccio) Voccio.
Mr. Voccio was a Disabled Veteran of the Korean War serving in the Navy. He served a 10 year appointment on the East Providence Personnel Board, was Chairman of the Board of the Coventry Planning Commission for 14 years, a member of the Jewelry Manufacturers Association and recipient of Jewelry Manufacturer of the Year award.
He was the beloved father of Jo-Ann McQuade of Coventry, Peter Voccio of Coventry, Donna Massiwer of West Greenwich, Lisa Hobin of Largo, Florida and step-father of Honey Meaker of Coventry. Grandfather of seven and great grandfather of one. He was the brother of Richard Voccio of Sarasota, Florida and the late Louis and Paul Voccio.
His funeral will be held Friday at 8:45 a.m. from "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home 600 Pontiac Avenue Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in SS John and Paul Church, Coventry. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich.
