James Arthur Hamilton, 53, of Fox Road, Putnam, Connecticut; a former North Attleboro resident; died on Monday, April 12, 2010 at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, Connecticut after having been stricken ill unexpectedly at his residence. He was the husband of Maureen R. (McCarthy) Hamilton to whom he was married on October 11, 2003.
Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on October 10, 1956, he was a son of David E. and Isabelle E. (Lockhart) Hamilton of North Attleboro. He was raised and educated in his native community of North Attleboro where he was a 1974 graduate of North Attleboro High School.
He was named after his great grandfather, James Arthur Hamilton, who died the day he was born, October 10, 1956.
Mr. Hamilton proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.
Mr. Hamilton was presently employed as a Lead Man for Quikrete in Wauregan, Connecticut. Previously, he was employed at International Paper in Putnam, Connecticut for almost two years and was employed by Smurfit-Stone in Mansfield for 23 years.
He resided in Putnam, Connecticut since November 2005 having previously resided in many communities within Rhode Island including Cranston, Pawtucket and Central Falls.
For many years he was a volunteer coach with the Attleboro Pop Warner football league.
He treasured the time spent at the family home in Chatham creating lifelong memories where he developed an affinity for the beach and ocean. Sitting around a campfire sharing stories and memories with family and friends meant so much to him.
In recent years, he enjoyed the time connecting with family and friends on Facebook.
In addition to his wife of six years and his parents, he leaves a daughter:
Jamie-Lynn Hamilton in Florida; a brother: Rick D. Hamilton, Sr. and his wife, Debra G. (Simms) Hamilton, of North Attleboro; a nephew: Rick D. Hamilton, Jr. of North Attleboro; a niece: Erica L. Hamilton of North Attleboro; a great niece: Mackenzie L. Hamilton of North Attleboro; more than 80 cousins and many extended family members and friends.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran’s Honors on Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home – the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson House, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
Following visitation an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.

A private graveside funeral service with full military honors will be held at North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro.
