William Pappas -- Cranston

Woodlawn Funeral Home PAPPAS, WILLIAM "Poppa Bill", 91, of Edgemere Drive, the owner and operator of the former Arbi Inn and numerous other restaurants passed away Wednesday June 23, 2010 at Brentwood Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Stella Pappas. Born in Providence a son of the late Paul and Anna (Stavrakos).
A loving and devoted father, he is survived by his son, Christopher Pappas and wife Joan, and his daughter Betty Ann Andriotis and husband Lakis. He was the cherished grandfather of Kerri Weaver and husband Michael, Christopher Pappas Jr., and wife Heidi, Dr. James Andriotis and wife Patty and Sophia Andriotis and fiance Peter Viglas. Beloved great grandfather of Nicholas, Alexis, Chris and Noah. He was the brother of Arthur Pappas and the late Christopher, Dr. James, Molle Retsinas, Margaret Asters and Lillian Stephanopoulos.
He was a proud WWII Army Veteran. He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
"Poppa Bill" was a loving and caring man who touched the lives of many people. He will be greatly missed.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home 600 Pontiac Avenue Cranston followed by a Funeral Service at 10 a.m. in The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church 175 Oaklawn Avenue Cranston 02920. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Providence. VISITATION 4-8 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Annunciation Church Scholarship Fund. www.WoodlawnGattone.com for online condolences.
