Joseph G. “Jerry” Arruda, 69 of West Greenwich, died Monday July 26, 2010 at Kent Hospital, Warwick. He was the beloved husband of Susan ( Mulvey ) Arruda.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Joseph J. and Eva M. (Vincent) Arruda. Mr. Arruda served in the Army from 1959 to 1962. He was the owner of Helen’s New York System in Cranston for 15 years. He previously had worked at Leviton Manufacturing. Mr. Arruda was an avid Red Sox and Patriot’s fan.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Steven J. Arruda and his wife Kim of West Greenwich, a daughter, Deborah J. Caramante and her husband Robert of North Kingstown, a sister Carol A. Henson of Norton, MA, ten grandchildren, Benjamin Arruda, Rachel Arruda, Grace Arruda, Jessie Arruda, Haillie Arruda, Daniel Caramante, Mathew Caramante, Nicole Caramante, Alexa Caramante and Kayla Caramante. He was the father of the late Ronald Arruda and grandfather of the late Jordan Arruda and Jessica Caramante.
The funeral will be Friday July 30 at 8:30 am from the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. Joseph Church, 854 Providence Street, West Warwick. Calling hours Thursday 4-8pm. Burial with Full Military Honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich.
