Francesca C (Mazzarella) Socha -- --Elsewhere

Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory Francesca Carmella (Mazzarella) Socha, of Washington Street, Pawcatuck, CT, died at the Westerly Health Center on December 28, 2010.

Born in Westerly on May 14, 1917, “Nana” was the daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina (Chimento) Mazzarella. She was married for 57 years to the late John D. Socha. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Lynne and John Stenhouse of Stonington, her son and daughter-in-law John J. and Nancy Socha of Westerly, her daughter Mary Socha of Boston and her grandsons Aaron Socha of Providence and Nathan Socha of Boston. She is also survived by her sisters and their husbands Joan and Phil Sorrento of Pawcatuck, Jean and Phil Newbury of Westerly, and Mary and James Crowley of Westerly. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Carl and Michael Mazzarella, and sisters, Eleanor MacDonald, Ida Lesnewski and Josephine Carroll.

Nana was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Pawcatuck and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She worked for many years in several retail stores in Westerly including Junior Village Vogue, which was run by her sister Josephine.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Michael’s Church, 60 Liberty Street, Pawcatuck. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Calling hours will take place on the morning of the funeral from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations may be made to St. Michael’s School or the Westerly Public Library.
