Cranston – Marilyn Adelaide (Elsbree) Lawson, 79, a lifelong resident of Cranston, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in her home. She was the beloved wife of Paul E. A. Lawson, with whom she celebrated 59 years of marriage on December 4th.
Mrs. Lawson was born in Providence and was a daughter of the late William E. and Helen (Townsend) Elsbree. Marilyn will be fondly remembered as a joyful, strong, loyal, Godly woman who was always quick to forgive and who always sought the truth in any circumstance.
As a hobby she loved to crochet and also enjoyed her visits to the ocean. Marilyn had a passion for cooking and baking. Most notably, one Thanksgiving, she baked a total of sixty- five pies. Marilyn took pride in her four daughters, she loved to fancy them up with frills and curls. She worked for sixteen years in the nutritional services at the Rhode Island Hospital before retiring in 1995.
Besides her husband, Marilyn is survived by her four daughters: Paula J. Chapman of Montclair, VA, Eileen M. Lawson of Cranston, Marilyn A. Morris of West Warwick and Helen J. Townsend of Warwick; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two brothers: William E. Elsbree II and Paul A. T. Elsbree.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 11 at 10:00 AM in the Apponaug Pentecostal Church, 75 Prospect Street, Warwick. Burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.
