Fontaine, Claire A., 78, of Cranston, RI and Lady Lake, Florida, The Villages, passed away at home on Thursday, December 20, 2012. Married for 61years, she was the wife of Richard J.
Fontaine of Cranston. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (McGuirl) O’Mara.
Mrs. Fontaine graduated from St. Paul’s School in 1948 and St. Xaviers Academy in 1951. She was a member of the Auxiliary Club for the Knights of Columbus in Cranston, American Legion Auxiliary Club in Florida and was Vice President of the Irish American Club in Florida. She worked for Old Stone Bank’s processing center and for numerous local restaurants.
Besides her husband she is survived by seven children: Lynne C. Brodeur (husband Gary), Richard J. Fontaine Jr. (wife Dawn), Paul S. Fontaine, Dennis R. Fontaine (companion Debi Iacono), Cathy A. Frappier (husband Philip), Edward J. Fontaine and Joanne M. Brunetti (husband Bart); fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren with twins due in February, many nieces and nephews, sister-in-law of Carol O'Mara, Joan & James Demma and several life-long friends. She was predeceased by two brothers William and Robert O’Mara.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter’s Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick on Monday, December 24th at 10 AM followed with interment in RI Veterans Cemetery in Exeter. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-7 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick.
