Peter E Blane -- Block Island

BLANE, Peter E., 52, of Old Town Rd., passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 at South County Hospital after a seven year battle with cancer.

He was the beloved husband of Cheryl S. (Sprague) Blane and dear father of Melanie L. Blane. Born in Providence, a son of Edith L. (Littlefield) Blane of Block Island and the late Edward J. Blane and brother of Christopher Blane. He was a lifelong resident of Block Island.

Mr. Blane was the proprietor of Security One Alarm Company for the past 16 years. He was director of Emergency Management on Block Island, past chief of the Block Island Volunteer Fire Department and former chairman of the B.I. Republican Town Committee.

His funeral service will be held Friday, March 7, 2008 at 11 am in the Harbor Baptist Church, Water St., Block Island. Interment will follow in the Island Cemetery, Block Island. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers contributions to B. I. Medical Center or B. I. Volunteer Fire Department in his memory would be appreciated.
