Stanley Wilkinson Jr. -- --Elsewhere
Homosassa, FL - Stanley Wilkinson Jr., 84, of Homosassa and Raymond, ME, a retired U.S.A.F. Colonel, died August 19, 2008 in the Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Barbara (Stevens) Wilkinson.
Col. Wilkinson was born in Providence, educated in Cranston graduating from Cranston High School in 1942 after which he attended Air Command & Staff College and later U.R.I. His thirty-year career in the U.S.A.F. included W.W. II, the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam War. One of his proudest memories includes 280 missions he flew during the Berlin Airlift. He was a member of the Retired Officer’s Association, the Berlin Airlift Veteran’s Association, the Elk’s Society and was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters Sandy Gertz of East Greenwich, Carol Flynn of Bradenton, FL, a sister Betty Baird of Venice, FL and his grandchildren Lauren, Jeremy, Erika and Scott.
