Manuel “Sonny” Torres, Jr., age 80 of 382 Wood St., Bristol, died Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the Newport Hospital. He was the husband of the late Philomena J. (Vieira) Torres. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Manuel Torres and Mary (Sousa) Torres-Pimental. Mr. Torres worked as a machine operator for the former Fulflex Manufacturing Co., formerly in Bristol, for 45 years before retiring. He also worked at the Benjamin Church Manor and Goglia’s Market. He was a WW II Army Veteran. Mr. Torres loved Bowling, Gardening, and was an Avid Red Sox Fan. He is survived by a daughter, Ann Marie Goglia and her husband Victor of Bristol, and a sister, Dolores Gervais of Warren. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, Monday, February 23, 2009 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol. Visiting hours are Sunday, from 3:00-6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bristol Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad, P.O.
