Ernest "Ernie" A Chretien -- Little Compton

AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME Ernest A. “Ernie” Chretien, 74, of Little Compton, RI, husband of Pauline D. (Bouchard) Chretien, died unexpectedly, Saturday, April 25, 2009.

A graduate of Josephine F. Wilbur High School and an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, he attended Fisher Junior College. He was parts manager for several area automobile dealerships and was a machinist for Deknatel-Genzyme, Fall River. Presently, in his retirement he was a part-time chauffeur for the Westport Council on Aging.

A member of the American Legion and past-president of the Parts Managers Club, he enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening and bowling and cherished spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife of 49 years, he leaves 3 children, Ernest M. Chretien of East Taunton, Lisa A. Chretien and her companion Louis Audet of Fall River and Paul Chretien and his wife Heather of Commerce Township, Michigan; 5 grandchildren, Michael and Benjamin Chretien, both of East Taunton and Alexandra, Aaron and Ariana Chretien, all of Commerce Township; 7 brothers, Charles and Robert Chretien, both of Fall River, Roland, Rene and Bertrand Chretien, all of Little Compton, Roger Chretien of Assonet and Dennis Chretien of Ware, MA; and nieces and nephews.

He was the son of the late Raymond and Imelda (Malenfant) Chretien and the brother of the late Lorrette Chretien.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Catherine of Sienna Church, Little Compton, at 11:00 AM. Burial, Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery.

Visitation, Tuesday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to American Heart and Stroke Assn., 20 Speen St., Framingham MA 01701 would be appreciated. Online guest book at AuclairFuneralHome.com

I wish to express my sincere sorry to the entire Chretien Family. I am sure Ernie will be sadly missed. God Bless you all in your sadness and may you only be filled will wonderful memories of your life together. I am sorry I could not attend as I was in San Francisco. I am Aunt Eva and Uncle Albert's daughter Mary Lou. My thoughts are with you cousins.
