Alcide G (DaSilva) Melo -- Pawtucket

Pawtucket ~ Alcide G. (DaSilva) Melo, 90, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio V. Melo. Born in St. Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Jose G. and Hermina (Sousa) DaSilva. Alcide came to the United States in 1968 and settled in Providence, she had resided in Pawtucket since 1972. She leaves her five children, Maria Olivia Melo, Alcide Grilo, Antonio Melo, Maria Marseglia and Joseph Melo; three grandchildren, Loris Sheats, Sandra Melo and Michael Melo and her great-granddaughter, Sydney Sheats. She was the sister of the late Maria Estrela DaSilva. Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 32 Lawn Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Newell Burying Ground, So.
