Doris J (Pyne) Hornby -- North Kingstown
Doris June Hornby, 83 of Melbourne, Fl and formerly of North Kingstown and Providence died Thursday July 2, 2009 at Life Care Center, Melbourne, FL. She was the wife of the late Elmer F. Hornby.
Born in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph C. and Pearl H. (Readler) Pyne.
Mrs. Hornby was a Data Processing Supervisor at the Providence Public Library for 26 years retiring in 1990. She was responsible for starting the automation of the Library in 1966 now called the CLAN Network System.
Mrs. Hornby was a member of the Data Processing Association, the Rhode Island Library Association and the American Library Assoc.
She is survived by two sisters, Nancy P. Ferguson of Warwick and Joan M. O\'Connor of Melbourne, FL. She was the mother of the late William G. Hornby.
Funeral service will be Sat. July 11, at 10am at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Calling hours will be Fri. 5-7pm. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the William G.
